
Katie Mann Named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - For the second time this season, sophomore Katie Mann (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Offensive Player of the Week. She received the honor after helping Fairfield to a 3-0 week by averaging 4.27 kills on .430 hitting, along with six aces and 12 total blocks in all 11 games.
Mann began the week with an outstanding performance against Iona collecting 18 kills, four service aces, four digs, and nine total blocks. She wrapped the week up with a great outing against Canisius recording a career-high 23 kills, a .571 attack percentage, and two total blocks.
On Oct. 1, Mann earned Offensive Player of the Week status after averaging 5.17 kills on .596 hitting to help the Stags go 2-0. During that span, she tallied 31 kills while committing just three attack errors in 47 total attempts. She also recorded six total blocks (1.00/g) and nine digs.
Currently, Mann is second on the team in kills, averaging 3.72 per game, and leads the team in blocks per game (0.93). She also is second in the conference in hitting percentage with a mark of .375. In conference games this year, Mann is averaging 3.98 kills on .440 hitting, and 0.95 blocks per game.
The award brings the Stags' total to five weekly honors this season. Senior Kelly Oliver (San Diego, Calif./La Jolla) earned both Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week accolades while classmate Lindsey Lee (Hilo, Hawaii/St. Joseph) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors earlier in the year.
Fairfield (15-10, 12-1 MAAC) will return to Alumni Hall on Oct. 27 to host Siena at 2 p.m. The Stags will look to avenge their only conference loss of the season to the Saints who are undefeated in MAAC play.
