Stags Close Out Action at Alumni Hall on Sunday

Nov 2, 2007

The Stags will play its final regular season home match against Manhattan on November 4 at Alumni Hall. Prior to first serve on Sunday, Fairfield will honor its five seniors - Lauren Campbell, Ashley Hanohano, Lindsey Lee, Kelly Oliver, and Jazmin Pa'akaula.

As a class, the seniors have helped the Stags to four-straight winning seasons, three MAAC Regular Season Championships, and a 48-3 mark in conference play, including a perfect 18-0 last season. Individually, Oliver, Lee, and Pa'akaula all reached the 1,000 kill milestone, marking the first time in program history that three current teammates have reached the plateau.

Sunday's match may have historical implications as well as Lee is three digs away from breaking Fairfield's career record of 1,612 set by Lauren Laramore in 2005.

Fairfield (17-10) has won 13 consecutive MAAC contests and is atop the conference with a 14-1 record. It has been more than a month since the Stags downed the Jaspers, 3-0, on the road to extend its winning streak to six matches over Manhattan (4-22, 3-11 MAAC). In the September 16 contest, Katie Mann had 10 kills and hit .600 for the contest, adding five digs and a block. Lee recorded nine kills and nine digs, while Oliver led the team with 12 digs and a career-high six service aces. Fairfield has a 29-5 overall record against the Jaspers.

The Stags close out the regular season on the road heading to Rider on November 8 and Marist on November 10.

Fairfield will host the 2007 MAAC Championship, November 18-19, as the top four teams in the MAAC, including Fairfield, will converge on Alumni Hall. The semifinals will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on November 18. The MAAC Championship match will be held on Monday, November 19 at 7:00 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPNU.
