
Volleyball Announces Class of 2013

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University volleyball Head Coach Alija Pittenger announced her first-ever recruiting class of Brianna Dixion (Los Alamitos, Calif.), Kara Reis (Ramona, Calif.), and Stephanie Cruz (Midland Park, N.J.) who will join the Stags in the fall.
"I am excited to welcome Brianna, Kara, and Stephanie to Fairfield in the fall," Pittenger said. "They are talented student-athletes that have played with great teams throughout their careers and will fit right into our program."
Dixion, an outside/right side hitter, was a three-year varsity letterwinner at Los Alamitos High School which was ranked as the nation's top team for part of 2008. Dixion earned numerous All-Sunset League and All-State honors while with the Mustangs. In 2008, helped Goldwest Volleyball club to a fifth-place finish at the Junior Olympics, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. She is currently plays club for Surf City. Dixion is a versatile athlete as she also placed in the Sunset League and CIF Championships as a four-year varsity track athlete.
Reis, a libero, garnered numerous team awards at Poway High School, including Best First Year Player, Team Player, Most Inspirational, and Hardest Worker. In addition she earned All-Tournament Team accolades at the 2005 and 2008 San Diego Fall Classic. She currently plays for the San Diego Volleyball Club and was a member of the Vision Volleyball Club which placed fifth at the Junior Olympics in 2008.
Cruz, a libero, was a four-time First Team All-League selection at Immaculate Heart Academy, helping her team to New Jersey State Championships in 2007 and 2008. Cruz was also a two-time First Team All-State and All-County pick. She plays club for the Essex Volleyball Club 18.
Fairfield (19-12, 16-2 MAAC) captured its fifth-straight Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Regular Season title and made its fifth consecutive appearance in the MAAC Championship final.
