FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Junior outside hitter Lindsey Lee (Hilo, Hawaii/St. Joseph) added another accolade to collection as she received a Stellar Spiker Honorable Mention from The Collegiate Volleyball Update (CVU). Lee was one of 80 student-athletes from across the nation and the only Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) player to be recognized for her offensive performance in 2006.
Lee continued her excellence on the court for the Stags this past season. The MAAC Offensive Player of the Year appeared in all 104 games, finishing the season with an average of 4.09 kills per game, good for second in the conference and tops on the team. She also was in the top-ten in the league in hitting percentage (.268) and digs per game (4.06). Lee recorded 21 kill-dig double-doubles on the year and picked up her 1,000th career kill and 1,000th career dig.
In addition to earning MAAC Offensive Player of the Year honors, Lee was named to the All-MAAC First Team, the MAAC All-Tournament Team and the All-MAAC Preseason Team. She earned three MAAC Player of the Week nods and earned spots on the Fairfield Invitational, Hofstra/Asics Classic, and the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic All-Tournament teams.
Lee, the 2004 MAAC Rookie of the Year, has had an impressive career thus far. In 2006, she became just the fifth Stag to post more than 1,000 career digs and career kills. Currently, she has 1,197 kills and 1,280 digs to her credit, good for fourth all-time in both categories on the Fairfield charts.
The CVU.com Stellar Spiker selections consisted of 28 first and second team members and 52 honorable mentions. The accolades were based upon the impact the player had on helping her team succeed as well as conference awards.
Fairfield went 24-8 overall and 18-0 in the MAAC in 2006, while capturing its third-straight MAAC Regular Season Championship. The Stags had an impressive 20-match winning streak during the year and posted its third-straight winning season. Fairfield's 24 wins this season are the fifth-most in program history.
