FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Setter Barbie Thistle (Bakersfield, Calif./Bakersfield) has continued to shine for Fairfield as she was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week for the second-straight week. Thistle has earned the honor three times in the past four weeks and four times this season.

Thistle was a key figure in helping the Stags extend their streak to nine matches and remain undefeated in the MAAC by averaging 14.83 assists, 1.50 aces, 1.50 kills and 0.83 blocks on the week.

In the Stags' 3-0 win over Iona on October 15, Thistle recorded nine of the Stags' 10 service aces. Her career-high nine aces were the second-high single-match total in program history and the most since 1994 when former Stag Jen McLaughlin had eight in a match. Thistle also added 42 assists, five kills, four digs and two block assists against the Gaels.

Thistle leads the conference in assists, averaging 12.21 per game, and is third in service aces with 0.66 per game and is sixth in hitting percentage with a mark of .296. She has recorded five or more service aces in a match four times this season.

Fairfield (12-6, 9-0 MAAC) will hit the road for its next four conference matches beginning with Canisius on October 21.
