Chris O’Connor is in the third year of his second stint in the Fairfield University sports information office, currently serving as the Associate Director.  He serves as the primary contact for women’s basketball, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s golf.

O’Connor was the Assistant Media Coordinator for the 2006 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament Bridgeport Regional.  He also assisted in hosting the MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championship at the Arena at Harbor Yard in 2007, along with numerous other MAAC Championships held on campus. O’Connor first came to Fairfield in September 2000, for a year-long stint in which he served as the media contact for women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and women’s soccer.

In August 2001 he left Fairfield to become the Sports Information Director at his alma mater, Marist College, where he oversaw the media relations efforts for the Red Foxes 23 Division I varsity sports, and was the primary contact for football, men’s basketball and baseball.  During his time at Marist, the Red Foxes had three student-athletes earn CoSida Academic All-America status.

O’Connor graduated from Marist in May 1998 with a B.A in Communications.  He was a four-year member of the varsity swim team, setting three individual school records and swimming on a pair of record setting relays.  He was the Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming Conference Rookie of the Year in 1995, and helped the Red Foxes to four conference crowns.

O’Connor left Marist in July 2004, when he was married to his wife, the former Ashley Hotze, and move to St. Louis.  He assisted in the running of the 2005 NCAA Men’s Division I Men’s Basketball Final Four, as well as working for various collegiate athletic programs in the St. Louis area, including the Missouri Valley Conference and Saint Louis University.
