Mark Spellmanis in his eighth year as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Fairfield University, assuming the position in September 2001.  In that role he develops, designs and implements comprehensive strength and conditioning program for all 20-varsity teams and 400 student-athletes.  Spellman also oversees the day-to-day operations of the 4,700-square foot strength and conditioning facility in the Walsh Athletic Center.

Spellman earned a B.S. in Physical Education and an M.S. in Human Performance at Frostburg State University.  As an undergraduate he earned four varsity letters as a member of the swimming and diving team.

Spellman, who interned in 1995 for the Washington Redskins and in 1998, for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, came to Fairfield from Villanova University.  He spent two years as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at the Philadelphia, Pa., institution.

A native of Washington, D.C., Spellman, and his wife Kelly, reside in Stratford, Conn., with their children, Emily (4) and Drew (1).
